The word Virgo comes from the latin (a very old language - ca. 500 years before christ). The name of the male Virgo in latin is "VIR", but today we are using only the female Version "Virgo" also for the males.
I was really curious to know why we are using a female word also for the males, i informed and found interesting facts. The latter invited me to illustrate these. Now i will explain the signification of the word VIR:
VIR was a strong, autonomous and economically indipendent man, while VIRGO was a strong, autonomous and economically indipendent women; "virginity" was the feminine equivalent of "virility". With begin of the Christianity they cancelled the word VIR and used the word VIRGO for female and male. Furthermore the signification was changed and nowadays the signification of VIRGO is the chaste virgin, but before the advent of Christianity the chaste virgin had it's own designation and was called “virgo intacta”.
So the right expression for a Virgo Man must be VIR and not VIRGO.
