Simone Karl - Hamburg / Germany - http://www.simoneka.com/
Born in 1989, Simone Karl is a collage and object artist focused on the narrow ridge between disgust and pleasure. She studied Visual Communication in Nuremberg and completed her master's degree in the class of Christian Hahn in Hamburg. Her works have been shown on exhibitions in Hamburg, Nuremberg, London and Milan.
In her works Simone Karl creates complex and surreal situations in which faceless people meet organic structures and mythological symbols. She is moving from strict colorlessness to an explosive color noise. The work deals with various facets of human life. Psychological levels and spiritual depth are just as present as the stormy and uncontrolled discharge of the body. The images play between the extremes of delicate softness and penetrating aggressiveness.
The technique of the collage plays an important role. By mechanical cutting with scissors and scalpel Simone works in photographs and paintings. Through the openings and new constructions, the observer can not only see the exterior of a person through the photograph. The outer shell is broken, harmonious structures are separated and redesigned. This opens up both deeply and haptically deep psychological worlds and fragmented and surreal constructs.
