Another day in August, another thunderstorm along the upper Palmer Divide. Today it put down a ton of rain (about 2-3 inches) in the South Platte watershed near Cheesman Reservoir and Westcreek. I caught up with it as it slowly dropped over the Rampart Range between Larkspur and Palmer Lake. Like the last several days, once the storm dropped over the mountains onto the Palmer Divide, they weaken considerably but I was able to catch several good bolts before that happened. Again cell phone photos and daytime shots, so much more difficult to get the stepped leaders and higher quality...but they are really neat and I'll always take that over high definition when photographing lightning!
