Although I'm still a novice at prospecting for crystals, I have had a decent amount of success (by my standards anyway) over the last 7 years finding cool treasures given to us by Mother Nature. I have put a significant amount of blood, sweat and tears into it (mainly because it is fun and therapeutic being out digging in the peaceful forest) and that effort has started to pay off. That said, I feel I am only just scratching the surface and am excited for what I still have yet to learn.
I hear a consistent story from folks who contact me through my blog, email, social media and in person about their frustrations with digging crystals. Finding locations to dig is easy as it is well documented in literature and on the internet; knowing what to do when you get there is the hard part. For years I'd wander miles and miles around the hills, digging tons of holes leading to nothing, and scratching my head on what others did to have the success they had! I didn't even know how to formulate the questions I needed to ask, so I completely empathize and understand how overwhelming it can be!
I really enjoy being able to help people out. Professionally that means to make software that is easy to use and simplifies peoples' tasks. I love helping figure out complex process and data puzzles so others can do the important things like get people paid correctly and on time! Further, I enjoy mentoring the technology that I have mastered. I love my job!
I also like to share what I've learned and experienced in my non-professional life too--helping people build their home music studios, mix-down and production assistance with their music, providing public safety by spotting storms for the National Weather Service, teaching school kids about severe weather and rockhounding, even coaching sports in community recreation leagues! I've made giving back and sharing one of the key focuses with all that I do.
In this spirit, I have decided to write an article on how to find crystals. The article is based on what I've learned over the years from my experiences, talking to many experienced prospectors and professionals, and tons of reading and analyzing video on the topic. My goal is to make it so folks don't have as steep of a learning curve to have the tremendous joy of finding beautiful treasures. Practically, hopefully their first time to the documented location they can have a strategy for success and not wandering randomly wondering what to do! I've taken my own personal questions and those that have been asked to me and tried to answer with detailed techniques I use to have success in finding those underground treasures!
How to Find Crystals
Of course, I wouldn't expect to read my article, head up to the hills, and be lugging back 20 pounds of gems immediately, as with anything you have to pay your dues, but hopefully folks can use it as a resource to break through some of the learning curve and not have to spend the time I did to figure out the basics of the hobby.
If you give this a try let me know, I'd am looking for feedback to make this a better guide. If you have something to add from your experiences, or have questions based on what you read, please let me know; your feedback will make it a better resource!
Hope you have good fortune in your adventures!
