This was a fun chase just northeast of the Denver metro area back in May 2014. Many chasers were reporting a tornado from this supercell at this time, and it did kinda look like there could be one; but there was no rotation in that lowering at all which I would have expected. We time-lapsed this storm with a Go Pro and the storm was rotating at a good clip but not that lowering, so I'm not sure what others were seeing from their vantage point...we never saw any pictures of the "tornado".
My favorite part of this chase was the cool bluish colors while it was coming at us. There was golf ball sized hail with this storm too, which pummelled airplanes at Denver International Airport and caused many delays due to everyone seeking tornado shelter as the storm passed directly overhead.
This was the last chase with my chase partner Adam--seems like it took forever to find a compatible chase partner (and it did! 25+ years!) and then he gets up and moves to Hawaii to start a microbrewery! And there was a girl in the picture too; so he's truly in paradise! Sweet!
