As a contemporary realist, I combine personal history with research on identity and culture. Concerned by a lack of interest in the local Malagasy population compared to the country's resources, my sensitivity focuses my work on the human aspect. I paint subjects that I question in order to offer an alternative and non-Western vision describing who the Malagasy people really are by totally avoiding the definitions offered in the literature. My passion for Madagascar leads me to understand how this people perceive themselves. Emman Acasio got a scholarship at the University of Sto. Tomas where he received his BFA in 2005, Cum Laude. He was also the recipient of the Outstanding Thesis of the Year with his book illustration which tackled the distinct personality of each of the 17 regions of the Philippines. He worked full-time in Singapore as an Art Director but has always found time to pursue his passion for the arts, particularly painting. Emman currently resides in Antipolo City, ideally close to the character of his works- nature.
