Zac sat in the car. It was a day since Emily left him. His world was broken. All that he stood for now didn’t seem to make sense. Zac couldn’t think objectively anymore. “I hope you are alright. Emily meant the world to you but you have to move on” said his mother. How could I move on? She was the first girl I loved! thought Zac. “Haha! You worthless piece of shit!” said a voice. Surprised he looked around but it was just him and his mother in the car.
It was a clinic in the basement. It looked like a perfect place to deal drugs. “Dr Fernando’s Psychiatric Clinic” read the board. Climbing down the stairs, Zac noticed that the door was open. With a sigh he walked into the clinic. It was the first time he felt this nervous. He couldn’t believe that he was really meeting a psychiatrist. Yesterday seemed so unreal.
Pinching his arm once again he sat down. It is real after all thought Zac. “Of course it is you idiot! You don’t know how to take care of people!” said a voice. The clinic was empty. He noticed his mother talking to the receptionist. Where is this voice coming from?
The doctor came fifteen minutes late. Zac didn’t get a good look at him. Eyes welled up he buried his head in his hand. His mother was walking towards him. A walk of three meters seemed to take ages to Zac. “Mr Zac Ruskin” called out the receptionist. Zac slowly got up and seemed to walk towards the cabin but tried to walk out of the clinic. His mother held his hand. “I know it is hard. Don’t give up” said his mother. There is nothing else to give up. I have lost everything.
Mustering courage, he nodded. He entered the cabin. Filled with books, the cabin looked unkempt. “Sit down Zac” said Dr Fernando. Zac promptly did so and stayed quiet. His mother had to explain the entire sequence of events. OH NO! Not again!
Dr Fernando simply listened and scribbled on his writing pad. He looked up from his round spectacles that were placed almost at the end of his nose and smiled. “Don’t worry everything will be alright” said the doctor. How could it?
Taking the prescription from the doctor, Zac and his mother left the room. It was now time to meet with the counsellor.
