Shot this editorial for Spoken Black Girl Magazine for National Women's History Month. It's pretty cool to finally have the skills necessary to bring a friend's vision to life. A little anecdote about this shoot. When I got to this location, I only had my 50mm and my 85mm for my Nikon. The second I stepped in the room I was like oh no I brought the wrong equipment. (Not that I own anything wider than a 35mm anyways). But guess what in the moment, you adjust, and make things work!
I found out later that Rowanna, the subject here, at one point in her life wanted to be a model when she was younger. She was rejected many times and gave up to pursue writing and other things. Many years later through her magazine and with the help of photographers like myself, she is able to reach that dream. Super cool.
