So, I got the results of the PET scan yesterday.
The good news is, I am cancer-free. Everything looks good on that account. My thyroid also looks good.
The bad news is I have atherosclerosis. The degree is not too bad, but concerning for a 45 year old. The real problem is that I have significant build up in my Left Anterior Descending artery. Of each of the arteries, this is the one that has the most disastrous effects if it becomes blocked. It's nicknamed "The Widowmaker."
So, my oncologist asked me to come back today and get blood drawn for several tests. I'll need a bunch more tests, like a stress test and probably an angiography.
I am traveling for work next week and have a very stressful week scheduled. Not what I need... however, I'm keeping my manager in the loop and I intend to do everything I can to make it managable.
Mostly, I need to get serious about sticking to a Mediterranean diet, using my biPAP when I sleep, and exercising... I should probably also keep a bottle of aspirin around.
