Vasilisa Romanenko creates figurative paintings inspired by nature, fashion, folk art, and mythology. Having grown up in rural Russia, she has always been intrigued by myths and legends of the Russian wilderness. In her paintings, she depicts mighty goddesses, good and evil woodland spirits, and the places that they inhabit.
Vasilisa earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Together with her mother, she owns and operates Palette Art Studio in Woodbridge, CT.

Rooted in constructivism and the confrontation of cooperative fictions, much of their work asks: “Are history and fiction interchangeable?” and “How does art and popular media program the future?”
