A while back a bunch of my Facebook friends were talking about this new alternative to Facebook, on Facebook. I talked shit because I've been on some great beta sites before that have failed despite being awesome. But I thought, "look at all these excited people maybe we can have fun together on Ello." Well, here I am. But where are they? They are back to their regularly scheduled Facebook programing. I thought all these comedians would embrace the new site, but nope, they are addicted to their current friend count and likes. I haven't seen any of them post here in a week.
I don't understand... "Let's all go to the new place but let's not put any effort into making it good." They are not putting in the legwork to find interesting people to follow, they are not posting content worth interacting with.
They are the ones who complained about Facebook's Real Name policy. I like that policy, and I also see the use of an alternative. Where are the people that complained about the Real Name policy and the privacy issues and the advertising? Did they really not care about those things? Do they just want to sound cool by talking about the cool issues?
This is why I talked shit about the new site. Because I actually care about things, I like to try new things and I really get into exploring. Then I get attached to things that the others never really gave a chance.
I like this site, it is nice and has a lot of potential. I shouldn't be surprised that all these goofs get swept up in hype.
Was it all just a name grab?
