Ello reminds me of this coffee place in the Mission called Ritual. During Ritual's remodeling the wifi was out, and people liked it so much that they never brought the wifi back. People enjoyed the communication the space now fostered. So now there's this lovely, elegant locale where you're encouraged to interact with rather simply than acknowledge each other. Ello's absence of the ability to "like" or "favorite" something means you can only start to talk, or talk to, to fill this webspace with content. Ello doesn't allow an overabundance of passivity. Now obvi folks have noticed that activity here is more on the ebb side than the flow right now, but I think the value of it as observer and voyeur unfriendly shouldn't be undersold.
