YOU ARE A CRACK
by Comandante Chispas
@annemio recently made a post citing Leonard Cohen: "There´s a crack in everything, that´s how the light comes in."
To watch Cohen sing it, click here.
Now, a crack is something. If there is a crack in everything, that means there is a crack in all cracks. Because those cracks in cracks are something, there are necessarily cracks in the cracks in the cracks. So it goes in an endless digression.
I once asked a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry how he did it. He answered right away: "I saw a gap between two known entities. I filled the gap, that´s all. Nothing to it, really. Everybody sees gaps like that. They think: what the hell is the matter with people? Can´t they see that (fill in the blank)? It´s so obvious."
Don´t worry about gaps like the one he saw running out; they form the endless digression just noted.
I went away thinking the gap -- that crack -- you see and others don´t is who you are, what you are supposed to do.
