Rent-a-coup, acrylic on panel canvas, 40x50cm, made in 2014
This work speaks about politicization of resistance. In the world a lot of movements for change in certain countries- resulting ina bloodbaths- have been influenced by the greater powers abroad. Goals of those movements eventually either changed over time- if the main organizers wished to do so- or were forced to adopt certain political agendas, often contradicting their initial proclaimed purposes. The result of big powers meddling in the affairs of other countries, and supporting legitimate resistance movements unfortunately too often ended with violence and civil wars. This image represents that- a big politician figure "supporting" supposed freedom fighters, and is willing to pay in order to achieve his goals, no matter what violence may be unleashed.
