Alex Abbey is a self-taught artist currently located in London, Ontario. Alex uses his art to get a point across to humanity using only ink and markers with organic imagery or nudity believing human lifestyle is too detached from both topics. Alex's work is considered minimal, abstract, and surreal at times.
From the late poet and nude photographer Ren Hang
" People come into this world naked and I consider naked bodies to be people's original authentic look I feel the real existence of people through their naked bodies. "
The gender issues that Alex is trying to battle with his artistic pieces are in-equality for both genders. He believes that the female form isn’t something that should be over-sexualized while in the same sentence shamed. The human body is an art form and our sensual nature is something that shouldn’t be suppressed by onlookers with sharp glances. Nudity is as raw as you can receive one another, and instead of shaming one for their raw beauty we should be accepting of everyone and their unique differences. On top of body issues regarding the female form, Alex also has experiences from the issues regarding double standards. He believes that in order to achieve equality issues facing men also need to be properly addressed, sexual harassment goes both ways and boys do cry.
