MARK MOTHERSBAUGH MYOPIA: I got to spend part of yesterday at MCA hearing about the new Mark Mothersbaugh exhibit, it opens 10/30!
MARK WAS THERE TOO! He was telling stories about his creative career and then a few of us got a personal tour from the curator and museum director, Adam Lerner.
As you walk from room to room taking in the many sides of Mark's multimedia works over the decades you are serenaded by the score which he composed for the exhibit! It's a beautiful world that not only encapsulates DEVO but earlier works, sculptures, mutated portraits, and the most incredible Dalek-looking instruments he created to compose the music for Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. Also, the pièce de résistance is a room of 30,000 postcard drawings of Mark's which serve as his journal.
I cannot wait to go back for opening night when the installation will be complete and to celebrate a true creative hero of mine!
