It's late Wednesday morning, and I'm still thinking about what I saw and felt Monday evening and early Tuesday morning in downtown Oakland. I spent a lot of time in my car parked at 14th and Franklin streets. For a while, I was waiting for my phone to charge. I was watching Oakland police officers block off the intersection behind me. I was listening to KCBS radio carry the no-indictment announcement. After standing around at 14th and Broadway watching traffic pause and flow through and listening to people, some of whom occasionally decided to vent to me about what they were seeing, I would go back to my car and let the heater warm me back up. Finally, I made slow cruises around through parts of Uptown, Temescal and Jack London Square to see some of the aftermath.
