I started hitting my local taco truck two nights running. I'm used to seeing skinny bearded hipsters or dressed up club goers and bar hoppers or even ambulance drivers, but I don't remember seeing Oakland police officers hanging around very often.
You might see a car in the distance going along 15th Street or 1st Avenue or Lakeshore Avenue not stopping. I noticed them because they didn't appear to be standing in line in the traditional way. Nor with a hiding in their cars peering out at the world end remaining connected to radios and other tools of the job. I don't think much about police visibility other than making sure I don't attract their attention. But I wonder if it's part of some policy directive, or if it's just a specific approach to something like the upcoming Ferguson grand jury announcement.
