Second ELLO Post for Project 2: Prosthesis' Prostheses
Trying to design a device that would allow me to use one hand to both hold a bowl and operate a spoon with the thumb of that same hand, requires me to have a somewhat decent knowledge of simple machines and how the work and move. On Youtube, there is a channel called Mechanisms by Noah Posner or thang010146. This channel contains 508 minute-long videos that show the various movements of pulleys, cogs, gears, levers, and whatever else you might need to press or pull one thing and get another thing to move. Luckily, the movement I was looking for was found in the second video, the Toggle Clamp 2b (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrL2_5tj1IE&index=2&list=PLhoXNQqrCmEfAaTf0AfQ1Ztxmz2DoZiCk).
I was looking for a mechanism I could press with my thumb to cause spoon to move in the same direction, which would be up, sort of like a reverse seesaw where both children go up at the same time. On one end would be my thumb and on the other end would be a Mochi spoon I could attach.
