Social is fragmenting - yes we should have never trusted facebook in the first place. But now there are good alternatives, and ello is one of them.
Ello also doesn't solve the "closed silo" problem yet, that we are working into a proprietary archive of a single capitalist corporation. If we decide to leave, or get banned, all the work here is gone. Hundreds, thousands of hours - gone? And most importantly, the people we meet here ... we can only meet here - how will I find them again if I change networks?
Where is an open standard for interchange between social networks? Where are the p2p solutions? Why do we give up so much of our own power, and submit to client-server architecture? The internet was never intended to end up in this way, as a silonet.
Still, until that day of a better, more equal internet comes ... we can at least spread out into several social networks now.
Thanks to Ello, for being one of the alternatives to the monolith.
