Land of Ice /
'Flying high above Iceland on a journey east from Reykjavik to the Holuhraun Crater eruptions. We saw hours of the most extraordinary landscape of snow and ice as the low sun defined the land.'
Take a look in the comments below for lots more information about this view from Eirikur who was flying the plane and showed us so many amazing things in Iceland.
Prints of this image and more from my Iceland visit are available here, http://shop.andrewbrooksphotography.com
Big thanks to Heidrun and Eirikur Thor for all there help with the shoot and the flight and to Andy Brydon at Curated Place for pulling the project together.
This picture was created whilst I was up in Iceland creating a film for the Immersion project. You can see a trailer showing the two films I have made for this project here http://andrewbrooksphotography.com/view-video.php?id=39
Some information from our pilot friend and guide Eirikur Thor about what you can see in this image "The small mountain in the middle of the picture has the name "Deilir", you could translate it to the english name "divider". It lies in a pass called Vonarskarð ( The Pass of Hope) and the reason for the name is that all rivers from south of this mountain run south, all the way to the south coast, were as all rivers to north of it fall to the north coast."
