Disused Cement Works, Akranes /
In January I spent some time in Iceland photographing and filming some of the incredible landscapes up there. Whilst there we also found the time to visit Akranes and explore a recently abandoned cement works.
The lights were still on and this made for a very atmospheric shoot. I really enjoyed photographing all the chunky machinery and warn and battered textures. The way the orange and blue lighting mixed together creating some very defined shadows made it all look very Nordic Noir.
You can see a full gallery from the shoot here with lots more images http://andrewbrooksphotography.com/view-main-gallery.php?id=124
And there is more photography from the Secret Cities projects here http://andrewbrooksphotography.com/main-gallery.php
And finally, here’s some of those amazing landscapes from this beautiful country http://andrewbrooksphotography.com/view-main-gallery.php?id=118 and the film I made up there will be showing in Manchester as part of Enlighten Manchester - Festival of Light & Sound Art in December.
Thanks to Eirikur Thor and Heiðrún Þráinsdóttir Kelly for getting me in there.
