The rise and fall of the temperature outside has my heart torn between the middle ground of the two extremes. A part of me yearns for that sweet color filled promise of Spring, while my introverted self is clinging on to the comfort of the cold and frosted earth of Winter. These two paintings are an experiment that has my mind opening up to this year's possibilities and a nod to the extremes my heart is battling. Also, I'm finding myself wanting to re-explore the series I started last Fall, "The Things You'll Miss." There's the safety of working within the structure of the Molecular Series, one I always run back to when I feel creatively pushed against the wall or feel that urge to make my feelings known visually. With the recent news of mass deaths of insects and more species getting closer to being extinct, I find myself wondering how can I channel this fear I feel constructively and creatively. How can I bring awareness that has some sort of ripple effect that'll move through the world? Lofty goals, I know. What would life be without passion, though? Beautiful and strange is the weather and world we live in, the lasting impacts we leave tearing it apart makes me shudder 🎨
The Molecular Series is a visual meditation of what occurs inside of our bodies without a second thought. I'm inspired by how the micro life forces inside us have their own reality and move on their own accord. This series focuses solely on my molecular biology and how I react to my experiences, surroundings, life, emotions.
