infection --> multiple limbs whoa.
by Anand Varma. Ribeiroia ontatrae, a parasitic flatworm, infects a frog and locates around its limb buds. The infection during the tadpole stage often causes multiple limbs to form. R.ontatrae can be an indicator of low biodiversity in pond ecosystems (i.e. the dilution effect) or of unbalanced nutrients in the ecosystem (i.e. eutrophication).
