Rising to the challenge
Two weeks ago my computer crashed. Not a single sign of life. I thought it beyond repair so I bought a new one. Delivery is delayed between one and two months. I first thought I would rise to the challenge and live without a computer for over a month. Man, is that hard. Not only is a computer required for many tasks and even hobbies, but one get's lazy in a way as things are so easily accomplished with a computer. It was shocking to realise how much I relied and depended on it and how little I could do without. I even rediscovered boredom for not only did the device not work, my files were not accessible too without a device to retrieve them. I lost quite some data too, but luckily I had a cloud backup of most of my images.
It made me realise how handicapped we are without our digital devices that have changed everything in our lives. A forced digital detox once in a while is a harsh reminder of how dependent we have become.
