Rules for revising a first draft:
1. Print out your manuscript.
2. Read it aloud.
3. Use a red pen to make an "x" mark for parts that need revising.
4. Keep reading aloud: do not stop to make your revisions now.
5. Go over your "x" marks and change your manuscript.
Starting the revision of "Love is Hell" tonight. 200 pages of double-spaced manuscript, which is the equivalent of a short novel in its current version. I already know I need to add a couple scenes and that some of the scenes I have already written need fleshing out/clarifications. It is likely I will be taking some things out as well: I introduced characters early on that I did not have a chance to flesh out or use as part of the main plot. I'll either be finding a way to use them fully because they have potential, or I will be editing them out completely.
