I have always liked books, and a few years ago I started making books as art, figuring out how binding works, folded paper books, adding scraps from magazines, etc. I would mostly hand them out to my kids to draw in and play with.
Last year I gave my girlfriend a leather-bound journal I had made and she liked it very much.
Yesterday, I started getting more serious with it and made a bookbinding rig and started a legit bookbinding setup in order to make a small 160-page blank book. It's an experiment, but it's going really well, considering I only have instructional youtube videos and basic tools and materials found in my garage.
I dig it though. It's art, it's a craft I'm proud of, and it has a lot of potential. I could see myself doing this as a side job, maybe an etsy shop or something...
And it's zen. Love it. Pictures soon.
