This morning, I was awakened in an entirely new way.
My kids are perhaps a bit weird: Henry is intensely reluctant to leave his room if the door has been shut, and yes, I absolutely have used that to make my life easier by closing the door overnight (because seriously, if the door stays open he DOES NOT SLEEP AT ALL). Oliver has been in a crib since moving out of the bassinet in my room, because he hasn't shown interest in climbing out of it, hasn't outgrown it, and yes, it makes my life a lot easier. I use a monitor, and I usually get up once one or the other of them starts moving around and making noise. Sometimes I use an alarm, if we need to have an especially early morning, or if I just need some time for myself.
But this morning, with ninja-like stealth, Oliver exited his crib and scampered to my room. I heard his door open only seconds before he climbed into my bed with an enormous smile and an ecstatic "Good morning Mama!"
I have to admit, that was pretty awesome.
Even if it was 5:30 in the morning.
Anyway, projects for today: take the side off the crib, reassess my kid-proofing, and seriously admit that this child isn't a baby anymore.
