THE CAT IN THE ARTIST STUDIO - SECOND Painting from the serial: In the Artist Studio - 2017
The Artist Studio belong to our contemporary classical mythology. This belongs together with 'The Red Chair in the Artist Studio', a homage to the paint dots and blotches on a studio floor.
Before working digital my studio always had a barrel with 50 litres of acrylic base glue, the raw pigments I had carefully selected, large linen canvases, chalk for the preparation of the canvases, and wet acrylic paint dripping to the floor from the canvas I was working on.
This serial is a homage to the atmosphere of my old studios, so here I put my cat of today into the studio where she could not have been with all the toxic pigments. For me, it's a bit like when other paint their childhood. But even if I was an adult when working in these studios, I was as a child, playing with paint and large canvases - and in the end, even getting money for your playfulness. I'm still as a child when painting digital, but I don't have to be afraid that my cat should eat something dangerous.
All my painted linen canvases are sold, those I made recently just flew out as well. But, even if I truly love the new options digital painting give me - I will not promise that I one bright day will do some 'old fashioned' paintings on the canvas again.
Still, I promise, I will let my cat wait at home ... she doesn't have to eat nostalgia.
