We just updated Ryan Takaba's Artaxis page with images of his new work. This is “49 to a new (unfurl performative)”, 2017, porcelain, white mums, water, magnets, 4″ * 11’ * 1.5″. “49 to a new (Unfurl)” is a living altar comprised of 49 porcelain forms and flowers. Each day one form is removed from the composition on the right and set in a composition to the left. As the vases are filled, the work changes from a stable topographical composition to an unpredictable landscape with the flowers drying and wilting as the days progress.
