We're happy to welcome Jenna Wright to Artaxis. This is her work titled, “Tomato Bedding”, 2017, glazed earthenware, tomato plant, wood, house paint, 40” x 13” x 20”. She writes about this work, "My work starts with the “home” and the dense suburban environment of my native New Jersey. The essence of intimacy and abstraction of the sociological home is what I debate. Drawn to ways that suburban sprawl, remodeling, and design trends, and how this may shape the landscape. The molding of an individual, the formation (interior/exterior) of a home, and the shaping of a landscape all have common ideals in our society. I am exploring how conventional social pressures impact our understanding of home, domestic comforts, and objects, as well as introducing personal subject matter."
