MYND ERASER: full novella with spoken word by MK JCBSN
Mynd Eraser by Michael Jacobson, is an asemic kinetic novella which was created in 2011. The word mynd is from Icelandic, and it literally means "picture" or "film." The goal of the piece is to erase and blur the boundaries between film and literature, semantic and asemic writing, pain and bliss. Mynd Eraser is simultaneously a film and anti-film. It is attempting to make the reader/viewer have multiple experiences and sensations simultaneously. There are lines in the book/film which nod towards writing, though none of the lines are legible; they move in a way that can only be attributed to a computer, a film, video, or as conceptualized: e-paper. The moving asemic text in Mynd Eraser becomes the only thing that is real and foundational; telling that now the schizophrenic spectacle of the sacred has commenced, and the last smoking dance awakens from the cinematic burnout. There are no actors anymore; the writing of the script has become alive, post-literate, and the scripting of the world has begun.
Mynd Eraser appeared in the Minnesota Center for Book Arts exhibit Directed (summer 2013).
