Charles Buenconsejo’s artistic practice builds upon an ongoing inquiry and deconstruction of visual culture. The discussion he pursues through print, video, and installation runs from the physical components of the image to its social and personal functions as both a means of surveillance and tool for self-actualization. His work is also heavily informed by contradictions, in particular, the contradiction of the photograph as both an instance of available light and a digitized sequence – thus, expressing how one surface can contain both the poetry of the creative act and the routine of living in the age of the algorithm.
