Fern school house. District #93. Built in 1806.
I wish you could read the keystone in this picture, it's the half moon shape right about the two windows on the second floor and it has all the information above carved in it. Whats really cool is there are a hand full of other school houses like this in probably a 20 mile radius. Some of them have been restored and others are in the same condition as this one. Out of all the rural travels I've done in Northern Central Michigan the two story brick ones are pretty unique and I've never seen this design elsewhere in Michigan.
