Students at Leeds University have created a club night inspired by Sir David Attenborough called 'Jungle Boogie'
Student clubbing is about to get even more wild
Anyone who's been to university or visited friends on campuses across the country will know that students love to let loose on a night out.
However, nothing gets more wild than a club night devoted to the king of nature himself, Sir David Attenborough.
The "Jungle Boogie" club night, conceived by a couple of savvy students, has proven a massive hit ever since it was first launched.
The Sir David Attenborough-themed club night, 'Jungle Boogie', was created by students at Leeds University
Louis Jadwat and Will Burbage, founders of events company Good Life, created the fun club night while studying at Leeds University when they realised just how much their fellow students loved Sir David Attenborough.
"We saw the immense popularity of him amongst students in that every Sunday people would love watching Blue Planet and Planet Earth so thought it would be great to pay homage to him," Jadwat told The Independent.
"The first two nights in Leeds and Liverpool went down a treat with both pretty much selling out."
One of the key aspects of the night is making sure the club is decked out with decorations inspired by Sir David Attenborough's renowned naturalist TV shows.
"The concept of 'Jungle Boogie' is that we transform a venue into a rainforest, play Blue Planet visuals on a projector and get local DJs to play House, Disco, Funk and Soul," Jadwat explained.
Sir David Attenborough even makes an appearance on the night, with lifesize cardboard cutouts of the national treasure placed in the venue.
There's a lot more to the "Jungle Boogie" club nights than simply having a blast.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales are being donated to the World Land Trust, a rainforest conservation organisation that Sir David Attenborough is a patron of.
"Jungle Boogie" is set to take place in more clubs around the country, with events organised in Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff and Leamington Spa.
Jadwat can't believe the positive response that he and Burbage have received online, describing it as "incredible."
David Attenborough's Jungle Boogie, an all-night dancing affair that pays homage to the world's most beloved biologist, has recently sold out two 600 - 800 capacity shows in both Leeds and Liverpool.
Playing episodes of Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II behind a DJ who throws down samples of the 91-year-old naturalist's narration, ravers don cut-out masks of the wildlife expert's head, take photos with a life-size cutout of Attenborough and dance the night away to house, funk and disco under the fake foliage of each venue's jungle-themed atmosphere.
Put together by the Leeds-based promotion company Good Life, word has spread about the wildly popular party and the Attenborough event is now planning stops in Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff and Leamington Spa.
