All The Water In Iceland Smells Like Sulfur
Lmao so I wrote this on the plane ride to Iceland but here it is:
"Well the semester has officially been over for me since Thursday and I think in the spirit of growth and self-development we should just recap what happened especially since I dropped the fuck off the face of the earth with regard to this blog in the last half? If we’re being generous the last third. I was still ferociously typing away after spring break so it’s definitely just that last third. I think over winter break I remember wanting to do a lot of different segments for the blog and honestly those just never happened. Also a lot of my ideas for those involved being high lmao and since I only smoked for like a week and a half this semester I didn’t have too much material to bring to the table. But those high album reviews would’ve been so funny especially considering that there was so much new music that came out. So that was a big fat flop. I don’t even remember what I wrote about this semester honestly. I find my inner monologue less thinking about potential zingers for the blog and that’s kinda sad. I’m no longer the vulture for blog content that I used to be. Perhaps it was a lesson in humility? Some greater being was telling me to just live my life and not constantly examine it to pick out funny one-liners for my subpar writing. Well call me a changed person blossoming anew cause I just went ahead and stopped thinking about the blog altogether except in passing with a certain nostalgia. Can you have nostalgia after only like three weeks pass? Is there like a certain time frame which you must wait until you can describe things as nostalgic? Let me know in the comments below cause that’s a possible pressing issue.
Well now we’re here in the fuckin present welcome back to the 21st century ladies and I’m currently on a plane to Iceland!!!!!! The very exciting day has come and I will soon be in the land of the Vikings I think? I’m not sure what counts as like Nordic land but I’m assuming Iceland is. I’m fairly sure it is and so is Greenland? I think they were the ones who fucked us up with that Iceland/Greenland shit. The guy who made the History of the World video didn’t teach me about that or if he did I don’t remember so that’s that on my knowledge of the history of the world. So anyway there’s a lot to see and do in Iceland I’m sure and now that I’m equipped with Xing’s camera which very handily has autofocus I’ll never miss a moment due to my own ability to manual focus ever again. This discount plane I’m flying on has been a real fuckin hassle though. My dad definitely warned me about how cheap airlines will charge you for everything extra and I was just like ya ya I know but it doesn’t matter until it did matter and all I could do was whisper in defeat as I asked him about paying for the baggage and name change fee. They charged me money to add my middle name to my ticket. Like it would be one thing if I was changing the name entirely I guess but I was literally just adding my middle name. I’m not gonna say how much it was but that shit clockdt me. And then I packed a camping backpack that was just inherently too big to be counted as carry-on luggage based on their dimensions and they clockdt me with that fee too. I’m really just here trying to pretend that I’m balling out on this trip and not actually just getting sucker punched into paying dumbass fees lmao.
On the topic of balling out, everyone has repeatedly told me how expensive food is over in Iceland. My dad told me twice that his friend bought a beer for $13 which you know, is kind of crazy I will admit but the bars down at school are on their way to pulling the same bullshit so maybe this is just a test run. The only problem with this I think is that lmao I’ll probably be hungry for a good bit of the trip unless we pack a good amount of snacks from the grocery store. So I know we’ll probably cook dinner for our meals most of the time but I just know that like we’ll also wanna be out and exploring for a good amount of time and I don’t know if we’ll be planning as much time into cooking dinner as we think we will. See, this wouldn’t be a problem if I was like Amar and could survive off caloric intake from milk and peanut butter alone with the random instance of lunchables thrown in but I’ve really taken pride in my diet down at school. I’ve become a culinary preparer if I do say so myself. My friends rave over my food and pie which has to mean something. Anyway, I think at the very least Amitav will be as hungry as I am cause that’s a gal who can eat a lot for sure. Maybe scenic landscapes will satiate my hunger. Is that how people who like to hike all the time survive off trail mix? Is a valid substitute for real meals just looking at very nice things in nature? I wanna be skeptical but I’ve never actually gone hiking like real hiking or anything so I can’t say. Please if you are a hiker let me know whether half of your caloric intake comes from scenery or if you’re all just like Amar and can survive off milk and peanut butter for your entire life.
I was gonna write about snapchat eyeballs but I’m very satisfied with where the writing naturally took me. I think I will leave it at that and come back to snapchat eyeballs some other time because it’s a very interesting concept. I have some ideas for my next blog post but I am also assuming that this trip to Iceland will inevitably spark some other ideas. I’m gonna try my best to do this more regularly or semi regularly now that it’s summer you know? But we all know me trying my best isn’t too much lmao but until then and as always, stay tuned for the drama of it all."
I will be back soon with probably an entire Iceland trip review or at least what I can remember and what I found like accessible for zingers but until then, stay tuned for the drama of it all.
