"Allowing trans women to use the women's bathroom opens the door to sexual predators and pedophiles."
Uhh, no. It doesn't "open the door" to anything, because sexual harassment is already illegal. Giving trans people the equal right to use a bathroom of the gender they identify as isn't giving anyone permission to do anything abusive or violent. If a perv wants to hurt someone they're not going to give two shits about what the law is.
If some man thinks he can get away with faking how do you presume that will happen? I guarantee you than no trans woman walks into the women's restroom and announces that she's trans, and that's exactly what a faker would try to do. Trans people do not want to attract any kind of unnecessary or negative attention. This isn't a performance or a parade, it's our lives which we would like to hold onto.
The amount of faulty logic that goes into this idea that perverts will be given carte blanche is astounding.
The good news is, these "fakers" aren't even a fraction of a percent of the population. That shit just doesn't happen. Plus, sexual predators aren't going to put themselves in a position to be caught. They are surreptitious. A public restroom would not be on the top of their list of predatory hotspots.
Like Laverne Cox said: this isn't even about bathrooms, it's about trans people existing in public spaces. Well, we're not going anywhere, so too fucking bad.
