Luís Tobias is a fine art photographer, born in Portugal where he studied. He travels through Europe, North America, Maghreb and India. He regularly collaborates in magazines and other literary-artistic periodicals. He is the author and director of photography of films in various formats. He does photography for scene and recitals, which often operates as a vanishing point in the literary terrain with which he articulates. Having light as the "primary pigment" of his creative output , he reveals something already on display at his video-text-photography installations.He is founder of KLARWELT STUDIO. He once helped float an internet company, failed hard at a couple of projects that may have changed the world, and almost lost a business partner to stress and partying too much. He ran his own creative agency for ten years, once quadrupled a client’s profits in less than a month, and slowly learnt the difference between having a good idea and proving it. Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo.
Much of what I shoot is done spontaneously without preconceived thought or plan. I let what is around me dictate what is photographed.
And the shooting is only the first step - a jumping off point. I take the raw images and create what I see in my mind’s eye. Coaxing out textures present in the shot – sometimes adding them. Enhancing the contrast of light and dark to create the mood and emotions I felt
