The "New" City
Chiang Mai, Thailand
Located in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai (New City) was founded in 1296. Originally it was a capital city, but today it's probably best known for its temples (there's about 300 of them) and backpackers. Well, maybe not backpackers, but there's a lot of them.
Compared to Bangkok, Chiang Mai is a sleepy little place. It's Thailand in the slow(er) lane.
