I've had the same avatar image on Ello since day one, but it occurred to me last night that I have never shared the complete photo. Well, here it is. This came to mind because I shot this self-portrait exactly four years ago today.
I was in Iceland and it was my birthday. Therefore, I felt it very important that I hike to the top of this hill near the hotel.
As the sun was riding low in the west, I knew I'd have to hustle to the top to enjoy the final minutes of daylight. So, up I went, at a pace that was a little too fast. My heart was pounding furiously by the time I was halfway up, and continued thumping hard all the way to the summit. The thought of a heart attack crossed my mind; rather than freaking me out, I just laughed and mused that this would be the perfect day to have one, and this is the kind of view I'd want to enjoy as my last.
While standing on that boulder, I activated my phone's video camera to record a slow 360° spin documenting the surrounding scenery. You can access this 60-second video through the Vimeo link below. The quality isn't great, but it will give you a look at this beautiful terrain.
