The Monotype Recorder
5 Issues, Published by Monotype
Trade Periodicals used to be a much more crucial cornerstone to the world of typography than they are today. Blogs, Twitter, Email Lists, they've all been able to connect us to the industry in more intimate ways than ever before. But the lost art of long-form exploration in the type world never actually died out. In fact, it's coming back with a vengeance. The Monotype Recorder is leading that charge.
The Monotype Recorder was originally in print during the rise of the Monotype era, and you can even find issues of the magazine in ebay if you're an opportunistic collector. This new reimagining of the Recorder (5 issues in total to date) is a great way to reconnect with what's happening in the background away from the quick soundbites of twitter or published blurbs online. Beautiful photography, engaging (sometimes chaotic) design, and insightful writing make the Recorder a true collectors item on our shelves worth investing in. Looking forward to more issues to come!
