On a break from obsessive kiln checking, I notice a strange noise coming from outside. THWACK! pause THWACK! It turns out to be a guy going through my neighborhood throwing something large and heavy onto everyone's front walk. Hoping it's not something that will explode, I peer cautiously out the window and find... it's yellow pages phone books. Two ginormous phone books in a plastic bag, on my front steps. Really?! Do people still use those things?
So now, in between trying to decide whether I feel sorrier for the wasted trees or the businesses that got duped into paying for advertising in those things, I'm pondering the proper disposal etiquette. Would it be rude to run out and toss them in the recycle bin while the guy's still lugging a huge load of them down the street?
I guess it would. I'll wait.
