Prior to the Great Reform Act of 1832 (in the Uk) the vote was limited and people without voice or rights suffered accordingly.
Now - even with the vote, we find that business interests come again and again into conflict with environmental and social issues - the majority wishes of the people are set aside by the minority who govern, often empoying rhetoric, spin and economic bafflement to direct the public affairs.
Bu this state of affairs need not be so bleak, we all know that eco-minded businesses are growing and flourishing, similarly many are moved by social concerns beyond their own self interest.
With Proportional Representation, every vote would count and result in a far more equal and fair representation of all the peoples views and wishes, in such a system we really could Save The Earth
