Strangled in the gaze of others while desperately trying to grasp ownership of my own body, mind, soul, and existence.
My name is Zane Walker and I’m a 20 year old genderqueer/non binary trans person currently living in the middle of nowhere NC. Struggling at the intersection of gender, queerness, being a person of color in a white supremacist society, fatness, and mental illness. Painting my face, taking photos, cutting up and making digital collages, smearing paints, sketching on any and every piece of paper, sewing, writing, and making music. I've always been compelled to make things, without it I wouldn't have made it this far. I make a lot of art centered around myself because I see so much importance and power in self reflection. If you already don’t see yourself represented in media, why wouldn’t the obvious reaction be (in some way) making yourself that representation?
