I am an fashion designer and illustrator.
As a romantic, my art is about Love. Love intended both as the greatest vital energy and the most distructive power. All my artwork is deeply autobiographical, but in it everybody can identify themselves.
Until now I have based a large part of my production on classic literature and history re-adapting characters and representing them in different and unique settings.
The main characters in my canvases are always women, whose hearts are either the core of everything or totally absent. In this dualism, women are either trying to hide it or looking for it in a bizarre stream of circumstances. The beauty of women's faces and the bright colours clash with weird situations to create strong oppositions between interior reality and appearances.
In each canvas there can be found a strong symbolic meaning.
All of them are talking about the opposition between the society mind of "decadence" and the desire to live of the main carachter in the canvas. That's the representation of a cannibalized, self-destructing society.
Alienation is one of the main theme of the canvas. Like in James Joyce's Dubliners, men continue to live like robots emptied out of their feelings in a consumer society.
The women, protected by their animals, also stand for a suffering Planet, a violated Nature, a dying beauty.
I am attaching some canvases belonging to my new project “Beyond the Oceans”.
