Bárbara Montavon (@bmontavon)
Bárbara Montavon was born in Parintins, an island located in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon forest, but grew up in the cold mountains of the municipality of Caxias do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Although surrounded by literature, painting and embroidery, he graduated as a Bachelor in Tourism. She met the photography in 2013 on a trip to Switzerland, where she traveled within herself, and rediscovered in the midst of art. It began with a conceptual photograph and was soon solicited for lifestyle essays.
For her, each photograph expresses a story of itself, with beginning, middle and end.

I paint resilience but not always through the depiction of the figure. My oil paintings are realistic portrayals of the garbage, trash cans and drain pipes as a way to convey the idea that humans are often required to find something beautiful in a hard situation in order to keep going. The ability of a human being to do this is the essence of resilience.

In my art, I study people and their mutual connections. These relationships are a recurring theme. My work is an ongoing study, and each single work is a link, a next step in my process. Each work teaches me something about my relationship towards others, about mutual connections and bonds.
Loneliness, power, control, dependency and trust are recurring themes.
