How do you clear acres of ducks in the blink of an eye ?
I had a hard time with the ducks. They appeared to know I was coming from about a mile away and just swam away just out of photo reach. I swear that they love to do that. But, on this occasion, I actually got near them and, poof, they all disappeared with lots of flapping, quacking and just plain noise.
I wondered why, besides my presence of course, and got a look at what they were seeing. Oh. Now, I get it. That looks says "breakfast time" to me, and I think I'm way to big to be a target. He was almost too close to fit into the frame.
I'm amazed that many of these shots worked out. For some reason, at Blackwater, I ended up shooting mostly hand-held with the 600/4. I'm still not sure why, but in some cases like this, it appears to have worked out ok.
