Some years ago, I finally went to London, England. Just to visit a friend. Completely unrelated to that trip, I wound up getting 2 jobs in a row in London and spending 6 months there. I spent so much time pressed against the windows of antique jewelry shops, especially Hancocks and Liberty.
This piece is inspired by the work of Nelson and Edith Dawson, who's work I discovered on that serendipitous trip. It is also inspired by Merricat Blackwood, her trips to the woods to offer up trinkets and her attachment to her long lost family's jewelry. The Blackwoods Necklace has been blackened to feel like an antique piece of heirloom jewelry. It features a natural solid and unbacked Carico Lake turquoise in the center surrounded by natural Pinto Valley turquoise. I'm so happy with how this piece turned out that I'll be making more in the future, including with plume agates.
