My name is Brianna Collins. I am a first year Art + Technology (soon to be Graphic Design...possibly) major at the University of Florida. I was born in New York and moved to Fort Myers, Florida when I was about 5 years old. I have always been a lover of the arts. I would always paint & draw as a child, but nothing ever too serious. I took art classes whenever I had the chance to in middle and high school. I also took up dancing at the late age of 12, was on my high school's dance team, and still do it whenever I get the chance. Art allows me to relax and just let my creativity flow, which is mostly why I have chosen to study it.
As far as my experience with the Arts and Design, I was in Honors Digital Design in high school and loved every minute of it. I have been using photoshop and illustrator for 4 years now. I even created a logo for our school, which was used on jackets for the IB students this academic year. I was also in IB photography and received my IB Diploma my senior year. In IB photo, we learned about black and white film processing and printing, and we used our school's darkroom to create prints and develop our own film, which I was obsessed with. I actually miss it a lot and hope I can at least continue it for fun in the future.
As far as the future goes, I am very uncertain about what I want to do. I'm told that this is common. For now, I've chosen a major that I believe I have a passion for, and I hope that the University, this class, and any other class that I will be taking will help push me further as an artist and designer. If I was thinking about possibilities, however, I think a company's image and product appearance as very important in today's day in time, so maybe I could be using my design skills/ degree for a practical use working for companies. Otherwise, I would be creating whatever makes me happy.
So yes, that's' a little bit about me! I'm looking forward to what I will accomplish this semester and hope I learn a lot!
