Project 2 Process and Inspiration
A few animation artists that I came across while doing some initial research for this project were, Lilli Carre & Joe Maccarone. I found both their work to be super intriguing and I loved both of their styles. Lilli is an interdisciplinary artist who works with experimental animation as well as film. Some of her films have even been featured in Sundance, and have been shown all across the US. Joe is an illustrator and animator who works out of Baltimore. I really enjoy his use of color throughout a majority of his work. I will include links to both of their websites here:
For the beginning stages of my project, I went into photoshop and began to draw the background for my piece. My piece is going to feature a large TV screen, a ladder, and behind the screen, a large green toxic looking pool of liquid. The animation will have stick figure people continuously climbing up the ladder and then jumping into the pool. The screen of the TV will have those standby color blocks on, and my hopes are that they will be twitching light. I drew out a rough sketch of what this scene will look like. I want it to look hand drawn and asymmetrical.
The theme of decay I chose to focus on was the decay of one's mind. I think that TV and screens have the power and ability to take over one's self-control and awareness, and I wanted to make this GIF as a visual representation of that idea. The final piece will be quite literal so to speak.
